Gay Toothbrushes From Atlanta

These Atlanta-made toothbrushes are "A Guaranted Gay Product." Awesome. A google search of "Gay Products Company" doesn't come up with many hits, mainly just stuff on eBay.

Thanks to the guys from Retro Thing for letting me repost the picture.

When the Bad Result of Good Intentions is Better...

Okay, let me start again...

I miss going out and made plans tonight to do just that. The Atlanta Rollergirls had a meet-and-greet at the Star Bar. But a late dinner and a drink means not going out. So, instead of going out, finding parking, having a drink and maybe running into a friend I'm staying home, not going to a new bar, and saving money.

Hmm... I miss having friends who don't drink and bars within walking distance.

ATL Rollergirls: Game 1 of Season 3!!!

Yeah, it gets three exclamation points. It was that good, and it was just the first bout of the year.

The Denim Demons got beat by the Toxic Shocks, 126 to 102. They were a pretty fresh team, with a lot of new players. The Toxic Shocks looked like a better, stronger machine. Despite their loss, the DD's never stopped playing and tried to cut the TS's lead right up until the end. Plus there was fantastic ejection by the refs of Toxic Shock's Captain Queen Loseyateefa.

After illegally pushing a jammer out of the rink, she was kicked out due to a rude gesture aimed at a ref. Nice!

Both teams have some great jammers (the only team member who can scores/moving target). Here are some of the nice quiet girls who skate better than you ever will.

Sk8 Outa Compton - Toxic Shocks

Wheelin' Jennings - Toxic Shocks

I was bummed that I missed last year's Vegas match, but we saw 3 of the season games and the great championship. Looking forward to the '07 season. Did I mention that the bout was estimated by the teams to have about 1,000 people attending? Good number!

Off the Cruiseship and Back on Shore

I returned on Friday from a week-long stint aboard the Rhapsody of the Sea in Mobile, Alabama. We were working on the theater while the ship was in drydock. Which sucked a bit. Imagine a casino, hotel, theater, restaurants and conference center jammed into a boat and all being renovated at once. Also imagine during the week planned outages of water, heat and power, and no internet. Plus my crappy phone worked for only short periods of time. I bitch about the boat but the work while completely ass-kicking was a great opportunity.

Now I'm back home, loading pictures into Flickr, sending back a few emails, making some calls, and finding that the internet is still here in all its glory. How did I survive?

Quinta da Regaleira: A Place From "Pan's Labrinth"?

I was searching Flickr for masonic imagery when the Quinta da Regaleira turned up.

(Photo from WaveCult)

This spiral well looks much like a place in the center of the maze in Pan's Labyrinth. The Quinta da Regaleira is a UNESCO Heritage site in Sintra, Portugal. Its nearby proximity to Spain would make it not unlikely that film maker Guillermo del Toro would be aware of this place.

And now it's one of the places added to the many I want to visit. A brief reading of some sites has the place linked to masonic and Rosicrucian ceremony.

Magic in the Desert, Magicians at the Slot-Machines

Las Vegas.

The desert turned oasis. From sand and scrub to a city unlike any other in the world. North of the city, the atomic testing grounds, where elements were transmuted from one to another. Transformation in the desert.

It seems appropriate that a city that remakes itself often is going to be host to the first International Alchemy Conference in October 2007.

Running Aground in Mobile, AL: My First Cruise Ship

At the end of this week I got a sweet work gig. I'll be installing a theater's lighting/power rig on a cruiseship. In Mobile, AL... drydock. I hope to be able to visit Henry Stuart's hurricane-proof hut (see A Hermit's Refuge Is Now a Writer's Muse - New York Times). But with 10-hour days and no great transportation options from the harbor, I may not be able to leave the ship. But while onboard I get a cabin to myself and paid meals. So, being locked up on ship may mean saving all my dough.

I'm intrigued and pleased that my first time on a cruiseship will be work related. Time spent there will mean money earned, not spent. This will be an interesting view behind the scenes, and a chance to see the ship and crew free of tourists and all that they would demand. Almost every job I've had has an element of public display: museum installations, theatrical performances and corporate events. What takes place in order to get these events ready for public consumption is usually a whirlwind of activity, often unseen nor even suspected.

Coincidentally, while surfing the interwebs, I found out about one man's attempt to build a cruiseship of his very own. Francois Zanella's boat

This man's ship is great and so is his story.

Adult Swim = Porn?

Somehow a conversational tangent in the house went something like this...

"This (meaning the item in the above Youtube video) HAS to be for porn!"

"You'd watch porn on it?"

Well, you wouldn't let me watch porn on it, but you would let me watch Adult Swim on it.. like Aqua Teen or Frisky Dingo. Which sounds like porn!!! Which Adult Swim cartoons sound like porn?..."

"12 oz Mouse."

...Much, much laughter from me!!! Love...her... so... MUCH!!!
