It was taken with three exposures, HDR tone mapping in Photomatix, and enhanced/sharpened/leveled with Photoshop. All exposures were under 30 seconds a piece.

I love this. I love reading about Catfish Reef. Thanks for posting. Check this out, I have a vintage suit that i bought a while back for shows. I looked in the tag and there it was. It says, "REal Tailors 402 Milam." still in decent shape. I also found a Midland Obit online with the name Lemanzel Finley (link below). Thanks !

Hi there

I was made aware of your Sig Byrd's flickr through JR Gonzales from the Chronicle. I think its amazing that you've been able to find such great articles to post. I found out about Sig Bryd not too long after moving to Houston. I enjoyed it so much that I am in the beginning stages of a Sig Bryd documentary. That is the reason why I am writing. I wanted to get some insight as to why you chose to find all of his articles and what the connection between you, Sig and Houston have? I think its great and really I'd like to pick your brain a little.

Hi there, my name is Amber Crain and I am the Curator for Cueto James Art Gallery in the Houston Heights area. I love your blog and follow it all the time! Great stuff. Just thought I'd give you an art news tip if you wanted to write about it: Our gallery's current artist, James Perez, has caused quite a stir with his series of paintings, the "Seven Deadly Sins" - very hardhitting images about current iconic figures like President Obama being crucified, The Pope being pleasured by an altar boy, Terrorism and the portrait of a Terrorist, and etc. The controversial nature of his work has already attracted the local Channel 2 news here, as well as the Houston Chronicle and Huffington Post.

Robert, as a former New Orleanean, it is true that most cities do not do enough to celebrate women making poor decisions. Which is mostly what Mardi Gras in the French Quarter is all about. So, what part of Houston would most likely induce the ladies to show em?

I agree--having a Houston Mardi Gras would be lame--it would inevitably be seen as nothing more than a copy of New Orleans (and Galveston), but less fun. Not-Su-Oh is an actual Houston tradition, not an uncreative import.

That said, Houston is hardly lacking for festivals of various sorts already--though none with plastic beads and drunken outs shouting "Show us your tits!"--so I guess we're missing out on that...

Your guess is as good as mine. I've never heard "R.D." as shorthand for anything. And I was reading conspiracies in 1999 about Bush choosing Cheney as VP because his heart condition was going to kill him soon after election.

Meaning, I love conspiracies, and this one is new to me.
